Community Service Project Ideas

Opportunities Abound for Eagle Scouts and Girl Scouts

From time to time, Lyon Township has been approached by young people who are pursuing Eagle Scout status, earning Bronze, Silver or Gold Girl Scout Awards, or are interested in doing a community service project. As a display of our support for these volunteer efforts, we have put together the following list of potential projects that would benefit our community. This list is not meant to be all-inclusive and we encourage other ideas.

• Signs and mile markers on the Huron Valley Trail

• Stairs from the parking lot to the play area behind the Township Hall

• Bike ramps in James F. Atchison Memorial Park

• Information kiosks for the Huron Valley Trail

• Dog clean-up stations with trash

• Veteran’s memorial

• Community garden

• Gazebo in the Community Park

• Signs for the disc golf course

• Oversized checkerboard/chess board

• Bat houses

• Bocce ball courts

If you would like to undertake a community service project, please contact John Dolan, Township Supervisor, at (248) 437-2240.
