Sewer billing for Lyon Township is done quarterly.  Effective February 16, 2013,  the rate each quarter is $115.78 per REU (residential equivalent unit).  Sewer bills are addressed to "Occupant".

The following table gives information regarding the sewer billing cycle:

Billing Cycle Date Billed* Date Due*

May 16 - Aug 15 August 20 September 20
Aug 16 - Nov 15 November 20 December 20
Nov 16 - Feb 15 February 20 March 20

*Billing dates and due dates will be adjusted as necessary if those dates fall on a weekend or holiday.

Bills not paid by the due date will have an interest penalty of 10% added to the amount due.

Checks should be made payable to the Lyon Township Treasurer.  Payment can be mailed or brought to the Township Hall at 58000 Grand River, New Hudson, MI 48165.  If you wish to deliver payment while the Township Hall is closed, there is a drop box located on the circular drive in front of the building.

Please be advised that the Township cannot accept credit or debit cards.

Please also be advised that your sewer bill is different from your water bill.  Water billing is handled through Oakland County.  More information on water bills can be found here.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING SODIUM & CHLORIDE

The Lyon Township Sewage Treatment Plant has a groundwater discharge permit from the State of Michigan which has very strict limits on sodium and chloride levels.  If your home or business is connected to the sanitary sewer, the softener backwash is not allowed to be connected to the sanitary sewer due to the high concentrations.  The use of sodium chloride is also prohibited for property owners connected to the sanitary sewer, however, potassium chloride as well as others are allowed.
